Privacy Policy
Last updated 15 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data InkWav collects, why, and the choices you have. It's written to follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
What we collect
Account details: your name, email, password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form), profile photo and bio if you add them.
Your writing: books, chapters, notes and anything you post.
Activity: words written per day, streaks, badges and settings, so these features work.
Payments: what you bought and when. Card and UPI details are handled by our payment partner, not by us.
Messages: support conversations and emails we send you.
Signing in with Google
If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with InkWav. We use them only to create your account, sign you in and show your name and photo on your profile. We don't receive your Google password, we don't access your Gmail, Drive or any other Google data, and we never sell or share this information. You can remove InkWav's access at any time from your Google Account settings (Security › Third-party apps).
Why we use it
To run your account and save your writing, show your progress, send emails you've agreed to, process payments and invoices, keep the community safe, and improve InkWav. We rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time, and on what's needed to provide the service you asked for.
Who we share it with
Only with service providers who help us run InkWav (hosting and database, email delivery, payments), under contracts that protect your data, and with authorities when the law requires. We never sell your personal data and never show ads. Your private writing is never shared or used to train AI models.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data and writing within 30 days, except records we must keep by law (such as tax invoices).
Your rights
You can access, correct and download your data, withdraw consent, delete your account, and nominate someone to act for you. Most of this is self-service in Account & billing › Your data. For anything else, contact our Grievance Officer.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, passwords are hashed, and access is limited to the team who need it.
Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's storage to keep you signed in and remember preferences such as theme, language and currency. We don't use advertising trackers.
